Nice to meet you.

​My name is Marshall Habermann-Guthrie.  I work at Western Oregon University as the Director of the Student Enrichment Program, partially funded by a TRIO-SSS grant, which works with First-Generation, Low-Income, and Disabled Students.  I currently serve on the WOU Board of Trustees having been appointed by the State Governor's Office in 2014.

In the broader community, I've served as a Monmouth City Councilor from 2014-2016, and as a representative on the MINET Municipal Internet Technology and Marketing Committee.  On this site, you will find information about my experience and qualifications, as well as my philosophies and goals. My Professional Experience

I hold an M.S. degree in College Student Personnel Administration, a B.A. in Communications, and have over 13 years of professional work experience in public and private higher education administration including supervisory roles in multiple areas of student affairs.  I have demonstrated skill in organizational development and strategic planning through program expansion, am technologically fluent with a diverse skill set and strong aptitude for learning, and am proud of my history of supporting student identity development and building inclusive and equitable environments.  I also have experience in budget planning and management, including managing both public and privately-sourced funds with varied permissible uses and restrictions.

My experience includes work in Student Support, Student Activities, Union Management, Residence Life, Multicultural Affairs, Health Services, Student Conduct, and Service Learning.  I have maintained close working relationships with NCAA compliance officers to ensure that student athletes meet their academic progress and eligibility requirements, and have had training in Title IX compliance, especially around issues of sexual misconduct.  To meet shared objectives, I collaborate often with divisional officers, department heads, and other staff from a variety of institutional areas.  I currently serve on the Western Oregon University Board of Trustees and understand the qualities of an effective board liaison.  I work with students daily, have advised a number of student clubs and organizations including greek life, and appreciate the power of the student voice is determining effective campus policy.
